I'm a 33 year old Chattanooga native, former couch potato, and long-time book worm who has gone through the struggles of feeling weak and hating my body.
When I was in my teens, I struggled with depression, suicidality, and chronic fatigue. I struggled with my weight, spending quite a few years being overweight and even more years being underweight and under-muscled. I walked around feeling like the weakest person in the room for the majority of my life. I felt crushed under the weight of anxiety when it came time to perform physically. I felt trapped in a body I hated, and I had no idea how to motivate myself to get better.
When I was 16, I decided to take matters into my own hands and learn as much as I could about health and nutrition in order to turn my life around. That was the beginning of my health journey.
My initiation into traditional fitness began when I was 19, beginning with bodybuilding and powerlifting in a typical gym setting. For several years after leaving the gym setting, I immersed myself in natural movement disciplines, such as calisthenics, yoga, parkour, and gymnastics. I was able to get into much better shape than I ever achieved at the gym, however, I was dealing with chronic pain due to my training which left me questioning my practice and how I was training my clients.
In 2018, I took a deep dive into Functional Patterns training and discovered a system that takes into account the biological priorities for human movement. Using this system, I've been able to more effectively help my clients meet their goals and work successfully with a wider range of clients. It has also enabled me to avoid the joint pain associated with gymnastics and yoga training. In 2019 I became a certified Functional Patterns Human Foundations Practitioner, and in 2020 I became certified as a Human Biomechanics Specialist.
I believe everyone is capable of developing a body that looks great and allows them the freedom to enjoy life. It's my mission to promote the unparalleled benefits of Functional Patterns for the pursuit of optimal health.
